Navigating the latest EU guidelines is critical for product compliance.
At Annel Ltd., we constantly monitor regulatory changes to ensure our clients maintain the highest standards. The recent update to the European Commission’s “borderline products” guide includes three significant entries that manufacturers need to be aware of:
Henna contouring paste: Now officially classified as a cosmetic product. These must comply with all requirements under Regulation 1223/2009/EC.
Self-tanning concentrates: Drops mixed with other cosmetics are now considered cosmetics. Manufacturers must provide clear instructions, including mixing ratios, to ensure safe use.
Mouth-freshening drops, sprays, and gels: Classification depends on intended use. Products meant for ingestion are not cosmetics. Individual assessment is crucial, especially for products with ingredients known for pharmacological properties (e.g., cannabinoids, clove oil).
These changes are vital for manufacturers to review the classification and safety of their products.
